How To Combat Heartburn

Heartburn, also known as heartburn, is a sensation that begins in the lower chest and can spread to the throat. In general,  it occurs when gastric juices flow up and up the esophagus, because it has not closed completely or there was some type of pressure that made them rise.

Natural remedies to combat heartburn

Sodium bicarbonate

Baking soda is one of the natural products par excellence to combat heartburn. It is one of the most famous antacids that, in addition to combating the annoying sensations of heartburn, is also effective in regulating the pH of our body.

To take advantage of its virtues, you should consume a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in a glass of water. It is not recommended for people suffering from hypertension or fluid retention.

Ginger

Ginger root is one of the ancient remedies to combat heartburn. Its properties are also effective in relieving symptoms such as nausea or inflammation. You can consume it as an infusion or include it in salads, smoothies or other preparations.

Apple vinager

By taking small amounts of apple cider vinegar we can also control the pH of the stomach to prevent or combat heartburn. In this case, it is recommended to take two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar diluted in ΒΌ cup of water 30 minutes after eating. It is very important to dilute this product in water, since, if we do not do it, there may be opposite effects.

Papaya

It is considered one of the best natural remedies to prevent and fight heartburn. Its properties stimulate digestion and help avoid the symptoms that cause that annoying burning sensation. It is recommended to drink a papaya juice half an hour after eating.

Chamomile

Chamomile helps facilitate digestion and also lowers the risk of reflux and heartburn as it helps neutralize its acidic pH. It is recommended to prepare an infusion of chamomile with a handful of flowers of this herb in a cup of boiling water for 3 minutes. Then, it is allowed to rest and is consumed before meals.

Tips to combat heartburn

Once the symptoms of this condition appear, we can alleviate them by following these suggestions:

  • Avoid exercising immediately after eating.
  • Not bending over frequently after eating.
  • Avoid taking a ‘nap’ after eating, as this can cause pressure on the stomach and, with it, heartburn.
  • Consume small portions of food several times a day. Excesses can overload the stomach with work.
  • Avoid wearing very tight clothing at meal times.
  • Avoid or treat obesity, as it is a problem that generates more abdominal pressure.
  • Do not smoke tobacco.
  • Sleep with the upper part of the body slightly raised.
  • Chew food properly and eat slowly.
  • Avoid drinking during meals.

With all this information, you can surely avoid unnecessary inconvenience caused by mistakes that many of us make in our daily lives. Of course, if the symptoms become severe and prevent a normal life, a medical consultation will be necessary.
